Annual Dinner

David ShribmanThe Salem Partnership’s 24th annual dinner was held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 in the beautiful Phillips Library at the Peabody Essex Museum with approximately 100 members and friends in attendance. 

The Phillips Library is one of the oldest libraries in New England. Following a reception on the first floor, guests ascended the elegant staircase to the magnificent main library with its high ceilings, fine casings, amazing balconies and extraordinary collections.

At the conclusion of the business meeting, recently retired David Perini, Commissioner of DCAM (Division of Capital Asset Management) was recognized by The Salem Partnership for the completion of the new Courts Complex in Salem during his tenure and under his professional leadership.

The 2011 featured speaker at the Partnership’s annual dinner was David Shribman, the Executive Editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Mr. Shribman was born in Salem and grew up on the North Shore. He was a reporter and Washington Bureau Chief for the Boston Globe before going to the Post-Gazette. He won a Pulitzer Prize in Journalism in 1996 and holds an honorary degree from Salem State University. Members of The Salem Partnership and the North Shore Community continue to enjoy and benefit from his superior knowledge of the current political scene and excellent writing ability through his regular column featured in the Saturday Salem News.
